Matti Syrjälä’s design philosophy is to create products that stand the test of time and remain relevant even years later. This idea became clear to him during his artisan training, when he realized: this is what I want to do, create functional forms for everyday objects.

He became interested in lighting while studying at the Institute of Design in Lahti. Today, lighting design is his profession, which he works on both for private homes and public spaces. That is why it is particularly rewarding for him as a designer to also be able to design lamps himself.

Smusso is Italian and means a bevel, a detail that connects the three sizes of the geometric lamp shade. S, M, and L describe the extent of the light circle opening from the bend. Designer Matti Syrjälä’s skilled design makes this minimalist lamp timeless. Innolux Smusso is manufactured from spun aluminium in three sizes and three colours: black, grey, and blue. The lightweight pendant lamp, fitted with a fabric cable matched to the shade colour, brings both good lighting and a refined look to the space.
