What should be considered when purchasing a lighting fixture?

When shopping for lighting fixtures, it is a good idea to consider what kind of space the lights are intended for and what purpose the lighting will serve.

If the goal is to evenly illuminate an entire room, it is recommended to choose a ceiling light that provides wide general lighting, such as a flush mount ceiling light (plafond).

For general lighting in spaces such as the living room or bedroom, a pendant light is a good choice. In the living room, it is also worth combining good general lighting with table or floor lamps, which complement the interior and bring the whole space to life.

In the kitchen, strong and efficient lighting is needed to make cooking tasks easier and smoother, while in dining areas and around the dining table, general lighting does not need to be as bright as in kitchen work surfaces.

When choosing a pendant light, it is important to consider not only the shape of the shade but also the installation height. The height has a significant effect on how widely the light spreads. When placed higher, a pendant light illuminates a larger area, while a lower placement creates more focused lighting.
