Designed by Björn Weckström, OTSO is more than a lamp – it is a sculpture that brings together art, craftsmanship and Finnish design at their finest.
At the heart of OTSO is an illuminated glass cube handcrafted by master glassblower Kari Alakoski. Glass is an exceptionally demanding material: creating a single cube can take several days and require the collaboration of several skilled artisans. Every glass cube is unique and possesses its own individual beauty.
The solid marble base lends the piece dignity and stability while highlighting the delicate brilliance of the glass. The result is a striking contrast between permanence and light, weight and transparency, art and function.
Innolux is releasing 90 unique, individually numbered OTSO lamps to celebrate artist Björn Weckström's 90th birthday and lifetime of achievement.
Björn Weckström (b. 1935) is an internationally acclaimed sculptor and artist whose work is known for its bold use of materials and for blurring the boundaries between art and design.
